This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the editorial leader for several book projects concurrently, managing at least 50 projects each year.
• Plan, organize, and oversee the execution of editorial processes.
• Conduct developmental and/or substantive edits on designated manuscripts.
• Offer editorial guidance on voice, tone, structure, flow, style, and grammatical consistency.
• Ensure the content aligns with book-plan objectives and stays within the contracted scope, including word count, research hours, and footnotes.
• Complete developmental edits within project timelines and proactively communicate any changes to timelines.
• Supervise and collaborate with external ghostwriters and editorial vendors.
• Perform line edits and final content reviews to ensure quality assurance.
• Obtain final member approvals on line edits.
• Deliver concise project status updates and address workflow challenges and solutions.
• Oversee and edit written materials, including book descriptions, cover and web copy, and author biographies.
• Provide budget updates to publishing leadership and finance teams.
• Execute production-related tasks, such as styling manuscripts for typesetting, conducting titling research, plagiarism and AI text checks, managing permissions and releases, curating image files, and proofreading endorsements.
• Attend team meetings and project launch meetings.
• Uphold Advantage’s reputation for exceptional service to high-achieving authors.
• Mentor and support authors through advanced editorial phases.
• Maintain Monday boards and project documents to ensure teams have up-to-date content status.
• Collaborate with production editors, designers, copy editors, proofreaders, book architects, ghostwriters, manufacturing teams, promotions, distribution, and publishing leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in editorial work for written content.
• Preferred expertise in categories such as business, finance, marketing, management, motivation, self-help, biography, and/or autobiography.
• Proficiency in The Chicago Manual of Style (CMoS).
• Experience with adhering to both CMoS and a house style guide simultaneously.
• Clear understanding of various levels of editing.
• Familiarity with industry-standard publishing tools and software.
• Comprehensive knowledge and insight into the book publishing industry is preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Proven ability to keep tasks and milestones on schedule.
• Experience in managing multiple projects at varying stages concurrently.
• Capability to independently prioritize tasks and meet assigned deadlines.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and circumstances.
• Proactive in managing project scope creep.
• A problem-solving attitude and willingness to explore new approaches.
