This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• The Ecommerce Engineer will conduct the initial assessment of incidents or requests to establish their severity and urgency, with a focus on maintaining eCommerce site stability.
• This position involves working within an agile framework alongside a high-performing team to swiftly respond to evolving incidents and requirements.
• Responsible for the design, coding, testing, and timely implementation of solutions while adhering to budget constraints.
• This role will focus specifically on Front End Development.
• Analyze production trends and recurring UI issues to pinpoint opportunities for enhancing stability and performance.
• Contribute to automation efforts such as monitoring, alerting, and Lights Out Testing to decrease manual work and enhance detection capabilities.
• Collaborate with the internal team to synchronize UI improvements with guest journey expectations.
• Champion UI best practices, including aspects of accessibility, performance, and modern design standards.
• Assist with release readiness tasks, ensuring UI quality and risk mitigation before production rollouts.
• Propel continuous improvement initiatives within UI engineering and support processes.
• Provide constructive feedback to QE and development teams to enhance defect quality, testing coverage, and production readiness.
• Transform solution designs into functioning code with minimal oversight from peers.
• Develop and refine UI components and storefront features across Spartacus (Angular-based storefront) and/or Hybris Accelerator (JSP-based storefront).
• Integrate UI with Hybris OCC APIs (REST/JSON) to facilitate seamless data flow.
• Implement responsive, accessible (WCAG), and high-performance UI solutions.
• Collaborate with backend teams to ensure UI components align with service contracts and data models (JSON/Schema).
• Conduct unit and integration testing, along with regular evaluations to ensure data integrity.
• Assess interrelationships between programs, such as determining if a change in one area may adversely affect another.
• Assist in formulating and documenting test cases, testing data requirements, and expected outcomes.
• Maintain and update project code and technical process documentation according to established standards.
• Manage the backlog of incidents and requests for the support team to address.
• Enhance existing applications when necessary and assist in reviewing development issues.
• Document programming challenges and solutions for future reference.
• Provide daily production support for SAP Commerce storefronts with an emphasis on UI and guest-facing issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve frontend defects, API integration challenges, and performance issues.
• Conduct end-to-end issue tracing across UI, OCC services, and backend systems to assess severity and urgency.
• Participate in incident triage, on-call rotations, and SWAT/command response models as required.
• Monitor and enhance UI performance (page load times, Core Web Vitals, responsiveness).
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistent user experience across various platforms and devices.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and drive permanent solutions to minimize repeat incidents.
• Work closely with Production Support, QE, and Engineering teams to enhance release quality and reduce production defects.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Technical Certification is a plus.
• Over 7 years of hands-on IT-related experience.
• Experience in production support or on-call environments for eCommerce platforms.
• Background in supporting high-traffic, customer-facing applications.
• Experience in supporting or developing eCommerce applications, preferably SAP Commerce (Hybris).
• Proficient in HTML, JavaScript, Angular, Node.js, Grunt, and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with Angular or similar front-end frameworks.
• Experience in debugging and supporting UI applications in production settings.
• Practical experience with Spartacus storefront or Hybris Accelerator (JSP).
• Skilled in working with and troubleshooting REST APIs (OCC services).
• eCommerce experience with Java, Java Spring, and Ant.
• Strong understanding of JSON / JSON Schema and data management.
• Familiar with Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD (Jenkins).
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities using sound development practices to ensure quality delivery of enterprise solutions; experience in Behavior Driven Development is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of data structures, data management practices, and system interaction patterns and interfaces.
• Advanced technical troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to headless commerce and Spartacus implementations.
• Familiarity with SEO considerations and UI performance optimization.
