This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• The Dynamics 365 F&O Developer is tasked with the design, development, customization, and code management of Sarnova’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance & Supply Chain.
• This position acts as the main technical engineer for the ERP, creating custom extensions, integrations, and enhancements that fulfill business requirements, while overseeing code promotion, source control, and the release pipeline across various environments.
• The role involves close collaboration with functional analysts, business stakeholders, and other technology teams to convert business needs into effective, supportable solutions.
• It is essential to ensure the stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of Sarnova’s core ERP platform, directly facilitating efficient financial, supply chain, and operational processes throughout the organization.
• The developer will establish and uphold development standards, integrations, and the release pipeline, contributing to reduced system downtime, improved data accuracy, and accelerated delivery of essential business functionality.
• This role will promote long-term technology sustainability by enforcing best practices, enhancing system performance, and enabling the organization to quickly adapt to changing operational demands.
• Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and deploying custom extensions, modifications, and enhancements within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain using X++ and the D365 F&O development framework, ensuring compliance with architectural standards, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Serving as the technical lead for ERP development projects, the developer will provide architectural guidance, review solution designs, and ensure adherence to best practices across all customizations and integrations.
• The role encompasses building and maintaining integrations between the ERP and other enterprise systems utilizing data entities, OData, custom services, the Business Events framework, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and similar Microsoft Azure technologies.
• The developer will manage code promotion across development, test, UAT, and production environments, overseeing branches, builds, and releases via Azure DevOps, Lifecycle Services (LCS), and source control best practices.
• Additionally, the developer will diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues in D365 F&O, including custom code, performance challenges, batch jobs, and integration failures, and will participate in an on-call rotation for production support.
• The position involves partnering with functional analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs, offering effort estimates, design alternatives, and trade-offs, while ensuring comprehensive solution design that aligns with enterprise architecture principles and cross-system impacts.
• Lead and facilitate technical design sessions to ensure alignment among business needs, system capabilities, and architectural standards.
• Conduct peer code reviews, uphold coding standards, and foster a culture of quality, supportability, and continuous improvement, including mentoring junior developers and offering guidance on design, troubleshooting, and best practices.
• Support deployments, release management, and post-release stabilization, ensuring system uptime and prompt resolution of issues while continuously identifying opportunities to enhance and streamline release processes.
• Act as a technical owner of the D365 F&O platform, contributing to the establishment and enforcement of development standards, governance practices, and system best practices across the ERP ecosystem.
• Identify opportunities for enhancing platform performance, scalability, and maintainability, proactively recommending improvements and contributing to the ERP technology roadmap.
• Ensure that all customizations and integrations take into account enterprise-wide impacts, including data integrity, upstream/downstream dependencies, and alignment with broader application architecture.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, design specifications, and operational runbooks for custom development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 8 years of professional software development experience, with at least 4 years focused on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain (or Dynamics AX 2012).
• Proven experience in leading or owning the end-to-end technical design and delivery of ERP enhancements or implementations.
• Advanced expertise in X++ development within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain development framework, including extensions, classes, forms, tables, workflows, security, and batch jobs.
• Strong skills in Visual Studio for D365 F&O development, Application Lifecycle Management via Lifecycle Services (LCS), and source control using Azure DevOps.
• Demonstrable experience in building integrations using data entities, OData, custom services, Business Events, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and other similar Microsoft Azure technologies.
• In-depth understanding of D365 F&O architecture, data model, and security framework, with the capability to design, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise-scale solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including TSQL writing and activities such as queries, stored procedures, SSIS packages, SQL jobs, etc.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse) is advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior developers, and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and crisis management skills, coupled with the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
• A commitment to exceptional customer service and the capability to collaborate effectively at all organizational levels, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in delivering custom development in a production ERP environment, utilizing ticketing and source control systems.
