This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Spearhead the complete solution architecture focused on Dynamics 365 Business Central, encompassing system design, solution boundaries, and integration objectives.
• Establish how Business Central functions as the primary ERP platform, clearly delineating its boundaries with Dynamics 365 CE, Power Platform, and external systems.
• Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to grasp business outcomes and operational models, rather than solely focusing on requirements.
• Convert intricate environments into straightforward, scalable BC-centric architecture and solution frameworks.
• Develop solutions that emphasize standard BC capabilities, augmented by ISVs, Power Platform, and managed customization.
• Take ownership of the integration landscape at a solution level, which includes:
• Identifying what integrates.
• Determining what data flows.
• Defining key non-functional requirements (frequency, latency, volumes, criticality) (with Technical Architects responsible for detailed design and execution).
• Serve as the accountable solution design authority, owning critical decisions and trade-offs, ensuring coherence with the architecture and disciplined change management.
• Establish and uphold a robust change control methodology, ensuring that impacts to scope, integrations, and non-functional requirements are well understood and clearly communicated.
• Assist in pre-sales and shaping initiatives, which include:
• Leading or contributing to solution definition during proposals and discovery phases.
• Transforming high-level requirements into feasible solution strategies and architecture.
• Aiding in estimation through structured assumptions and solution breakdown.
• Enhancing commercial confidence by ensuring proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with BC best practices.
• Conduct peer reviews of solution designs, estimates, and architectural decisions to uphold consistency and quality across the practice.
• Partner with Technical Architects and delivery teams to guarantee alignment between solution intentions and technical execution.
• Contribute to the advancement of architecture standards, design governance, and BC delivery methodologies.
• Guide and mentor Functional Consultants, fostering capability, consistency, and successful delivery across projects and the team.
• Extensive, hands-on proficiency in Dynamics 365 Business Central (primary focus).
• Strong understanding of Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform, and their complementary roles with BC in a controlled and intentional manner.
• Demonstrated experience in designing BC-led solution architecture across complex, multi-system landscapes.
• Solid grasp of integration strategies and non-functional design, with the capability to articulate integration intent without overseeing technical implementation.
• Experience collaborating alongside Technical Architects with a clear distinction between SA and TA responsibilities.
• Robust domain knowledge of manufacturing and warehousing within Business Central, including:
• Production models (make-to-stock, make-to-order, assembly).
• Planning (MRP/MPS).
• Warehouse configurations.
• Inventory flows, traceability, and operational constraints.
• Ability to design solutions that accurately position BC manufacturing and warehousing functionalities, minimizing unnecessary reliance on custom or external systems unless warranted.
• Proven track record of owning architecture in intricate ERP implementations.
• Capacity to translate business challenges into clear architectural models, system boundaries, and solution frameworks.
• Strong judgment in deciding between standard BC, ISVs, Power Platform, and custom development.
• Confidence in leading workshops with senior stakeholders, shaping perspectives and questioning assumptions.
• A pragmatic approach — balancing architectural integrity, delivery limitations, and commercial realities.
• A strong focus on change control, with the ability to:
• Challenge and manage scope changes that could compromise solution design or MVP clarity.
• Evaluate change requests against architecture, integration impacts, and commercial outcomes.
• Prevent “silent scope creep” by clarifying impacts and trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Maintain design integrity under delivery pressure, rather than allowing it to be gradually compromised.
• Unlimited annual leave.
• Private healthcare, life assurance, and company shares.
• Electric car scheme.
• Flexible and remote working options (with access to Tunbridge Wells & Paddington).
• Team and company social events, including the Illuminate Awards.
