This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review organ offers from the OPTN contractor in alignment with Transplant Center protocols and workflows.
• Engage in communication with Transplant Center teams, OPO personnel, recipients, operating room staff, and internal TransMedics teams.
• Stay informed about and comply with OPTN policies.
• Manage donor assessment from clinical evaluation through communication with surgeons and recipients to the transplantation process.
• Work collaboratively with the TransMedics Logistics team.
• Consult with TransMedics Clinical Leadership when necessary.
• Accurately complete pre- and post-transplant documentation in the Transplant Center EMR and OPTN systems.
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives and team projects.
• Attend team meetings outside of scheduled call hours as required.
• Plan time off with advance notice in collaboration with the manager.
• Carry out other assigned duties and responsibilities.
• This position has no direct reports.
• A Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Health Science, Biological Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of experience as a Transplant Coordinator, Organ Procurement Coordinator, or in a similar role, with a solid clinical background in transplantation.
• Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
• Willingness to operate within a 24x7 environment, including all shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
• Preferred: Five or more years of experience as a Transplant Coordinator, Organ Procurement Coordinator, or in a similar clinical role related to transplantation.
• Preferred: Experience with multiple organ transplant programs or high-volume transplant centers.
• Preferred: Advanced knowledge of OPTN policies, transplant operations, and organ allocation processes.
• Preferred: Experience in quality improvement or process enhancement within a transplant program.
• Ability to work efficiently with interdisciplinary transplant teams.
• Familiarity with transplant logistics and vendor management.
• Strong skills in organization, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and multitasking.
• Capability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
• Confidence in making independent decisions regarding donor medical management, logistical arrangements, and organ allocation.
• Experience in medical compliance and clinical data sharing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic medical record systems.
• Participation in a minimum of eight 24-hour on-call shifts per month, including holidays and weekends, depending on staffing and business needs.
