Distinguished Hardware Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Define security standards, requirements, and technical guidance for Cisco hardware and embedded software.

• Design chip- and platform-level roots of trust, ensure platform firmware resilience, establish cryptographic device identities, and implement anti-tamper measures.

• Create the foundational hardware security roadmap for Cisco's networking, routing, switching, optical, data center, AI systems, and cloud infrastructure products.

• Provide advice to business unit engineering leaders and executives regarding embedded security choices.

• Address evolving regulations such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act, U.S. federal executive orders, and Common Criteria/CNSA mandates.

• Convert hyperscaler and cloud-scale customer security needs into Cisco silicon and system roadmaps.

• Represent Cisco in industry standards organizations including OCP Security, TCG, DMTF, GlobalPlatform, IEEE, and NIST.

• Mentor hardware security architects and technical leaders.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• Over 15 years of experience in hardware systems design, silicon security, or embedded architecture.

• Proven track record as a Distinguished Engineer, Fellow, Chief Architect, or senior technical leader advancing hardware security strategies at a leading networking, semiconductor, or hyperscale cloud company.

• Extensive knowledge of complex networking systems, board-level design, FPGA/ASIC development, and system-level cost/performance trade-offs.

• Direct experience with design, development, manufacturing, and product lifecycle management.

• Familiarity with applied cryptography, PKI architectures, key management, and hardware security countermeasures.

• Exceptional communication skills for conveying detailed silicon and firmware information into executive-level strategies.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Some travel may be necessary.
