Distinguished AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver products powered by AI.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI software components, which encompass foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.

• Utilize Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch.

• Create and implement cutting-edge LLM optimization techniques to enhance scalability, cost-effectiveness, latency, and throughput of large-scale production AI systems.

• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term strategy for foundational AI systems at Capital One.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields, accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies; or a Master’s degree in those fields with at least 6 years of relevant experience.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in programming using Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

• Preferred experience of 8 years in deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms.

• Preferred experience in architecting, designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.

• Proven ability to lead and mentor multiple engineering teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders up to the VP level is preferred.

• Preferred experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, including LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, and Memory, utilizing Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.

• Preferred experience in developing and applying state-of-the-art techniques for optimizing training and inference software.

• A strong enthusiasm for staying informed about the latest AI research and AI systems and for applying innovative techniques in production is preferred.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills are preferred.
