This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Act as a proficient disaster recovery specialist, showcasing proven experience in assisting local governments with long-term recovery efforts following natural disasters, while also functioning as a hands-on project manager overseeing a dynamic and intricate disaster recovery process.
• Utilize knowledge of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Program - Permanent Work (Categories C-G), and how these can be strategically applied and integrated to address multifaceted issues and requirements in a post-catastrophic disaster context.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the FEMA PA Program, capable of addressing policy-related inquiries within a timely and necessary manner.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team responsible for all facets of recovery (e.g., cost recovery, infrastructure redevelopment, economic development, housing, social services, etc.), assigning tasks, evaluating staffing needs, and formulating methodologies to satisfy unmet needs and optimize funding.
• Uphold robust project management best practices, guaranteeing the client has transparency on all initiatives; ensuring deliverables are of the highest quality; and maintaining Hagerty’s core values of integrity, innovation, teamwork, and excellence throughout all endeavors.
• Previous experience supporting local governments affected by natural disasters through various federal disaster grant programs from the initial stages of a disaster to grant obligation and closeout.
• At least four (4) years of experience in the FEMA PA Program, including Permanent Work (Categories C-G).
• Proven experience in managing complex and dynamic projects.
• High proficiency in written communication, including the ability to produce detailed/policy complex recommendation documents.
• Strong verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to present to high-level stakeholders.
• Prior experience in managing workloads for large multidisciplinary teams with diverse levels of expertise (e.g., junior associates to senior subject matter experts).
• Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, databases, and various software/technology platforms.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
