This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kazakhstan.
• Offer strategic coordination for in-country advocacy and provide technical support for Equality Now’s initiatives in Kazakhstan focusing on gender-based violence against women;
• Create an advocacy action plan for Kazakhstan for the years 2026-2027;
• Identify feasible entry points for promoting reforms in legal, policy, and practice areas related to gender-based violence;
• Liaise with pertinent authorities in Kazakhstan regarding the presentation of Equality Now’s report;
• Ensure consistent communication with relevant government agencies, UN organizations, and civil society groups;
• Formulate specific proposals tailored to Kazakhstan for reforming legislation, policies, and institutional practices concerning gender-based violence;
• Draft requests for information, including statistics on cases, practices regarding investigations and prosecutions, and the accessibility of justice processes.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in advocacy, legal reform, human rights, gender-based violence, sexual violence, and/or disability rights within Kazakhstan;
• Proven experience in engaging with government officials, national institutions, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders;
• Strong knowledge of Kazakhstan’s legal, policy, and institutional frameworks related to gender-based violence, sexual violence, disability rights, and access to justice;
• Experience in drafting formal correspondence, advocacy documents, policy recommendations, briefing notes, and/or legislative proposals;
• Demonstrated ability to recognize advocacy opportunities and convert them into actionable, practical, and strategically timed initiatives;
• Strong awareness of the challenges faced by women and girls with disabilities in accessing justice, protection, and support in cases of sexual and gender-based violence;
• Proficiency in Russian and/or Kazakh, along with professional working proficiency in English for reporting and correspondence.
