This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Oversees and profitably manages all facets of underwriting and call center operations to achieve set standards.
• Cultivates and sustains positive, professional, and constructive relationships with carrier partners.
• Guides the underwriting and servicing team members in executing our business strategy by developing workflows, processes, and procedures that align with client and business objectives.
• Provides coaching to direct reports through regular feedback to ensure effective supervision and management of team member issues, including performance, discipline, separation, and timely completion of 30-60-90 annual performance evaluations.
• Promotes a culture of performance enhancement by preparing team members for broader roles and responsibilities to encourage professional growth and development.
• Holds a comprehensive understanding of various carrier underwriting guidelines and maintains extensive knowledge of all tools and models utilized.
• Addresses and resolves escalated issues as necessary for underwriting and service operations.
• Collaborates with senior leadership and executives to set unit goals and budgets, with full accountability for variance measurement and execution on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Works closely with Human Resources to recruit, train, and develop a high-performance service center team.
• Assists the senior management team in implementing new program management companies and internal functions.
• Directly supervises more than two (2) employees in the Call Center and underwriting operations.
• Executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
• Effectively directs and profitably manages underwriting and call center operations, ensuring alignment with carrier underwriting standards, service-level agreements, and organizational financial objectives.
• Maintains accountability for operational P&L performance, which includes expense management, productivity optimization, revenue generation, and margin improvement initiatives.
• Provides underwriting leadership across commercial and personal lines by ensuring precise risk selection, disciplined decision-making, and adherence to carrier underwriting guidelines and authority levels.
• Establishes and enforces underwriting quality control procedures aimed at minimizing errors, reducing rework, and enhancing first-pass accuracy.
• Collaborates with internal and carrier audit teams to ensure transparency, accountability, and ongoing improvement in underwriting execution.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading insurance service operations that support multiple lines or carriers; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Current and active 2-20 and 4-40 licenses or the ability to obtain them within the timeframe established by the company.
• CPCU, AU, CIC, and/or CPIA designations are preferred.
