Director – Transmission Engineering, Overhead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Serve as the engineer of record and primary client liaison for power delivery projects.

• Lead a team comprising 6-10 direct reports alongside an extended group of 30-40 professionals, including engineers, designers, and drafters.

• Contribute to marketing, promotion, and business development initiatives to retain and attract new national clients.

• Prepare, review, and apply P.E. seals to technical calculation reports and construction documents that align with client and NV5 standards.

• Support the routing and design of transmission lines utilizing industry-standard tools.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

• Oversee multiple projects while providing engineering QA/QC and traveling to client sites as necessary.

• Assist in developing construction packages.

• Supervise the planning, design, and execution of transmission projects, ensuring compliance with company objectives and regulatory mandates.

• Formulate project budgets, schedules, and resource plans, ensuring timely and budget-compliant project delivery.

• Identify and mitigate risks and resolve issues that could affect project scope, quality, and timelines.

• Offer technical guidance and expertise in the design and optimization of transmission systems.

• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory developments, integrating best practices into engineering processes.

• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all engineering activities.

• Contribute to the formulation of the company's strategic plans and objectives, particularly regarding transmission infrastructure.

• Identify and assess new business opportunities, partnerships, and technologies that could enhance the company's competitive edge.

• Collaborate with various departments within Power Delivery as well as Operations, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs to align engineering initiatives with overall business goals.

• Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and regulatory meetings, advocating for the company's interests and promoting its capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or advanced degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

• Experience in understanding and managing project financials and the overall P&L of the team.

• Proven track record in leading a team to deliver high-quality transmission construction-ready designs.

• Knowledge and proficiency with PLS CADD, PLS Pole, MFAD, and PLS-Tower is a plus.

• Over 12 years of experience in the electric utility industry performing engineering-related duties and/or management for high voltage electrical projects.

• A PE license is required.

• A PE license in California is an advantage.

• Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, NEC, NESC, and others.
