This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Lead, manage, and expand a global team of over 14 trade compliance and trade operations professionals across various levels and regions.
• Create and design a scalable trade compliance program suited for hypergrowth environments.
• Assess, implement, and evaluate compliant systems, processes, and procedures, including AI-driven automation and tools.
• Operationalize programs related to export controls, technology transfer/deemed export, sanctions, and restricted-party screening.
• Supervise import, customs, trade facilitation, classification, country of origin, valuation, broker relationships, and duty-mitigation initiatives.
• Act as the escalation point for ECCN and HTS classification decisions.
• Own and manage metrics, KPIs, and health reporting for senior leadership.
• Conduct investigations, engage in audits, and drive monitoring and corrective actions.
• Assist in M&A due diligence and integration efforts.
• Collaborate with legal counsel on export licensing strategies and regulatory filings.
• Work alongside Legal, Finance/Tax, HR, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales, and Corporate Strategy teams.
• Direct and implement risk-based trade compliance training and communications.
• Serve as a customer-focused, business-enabling partner, promoting trade compliance and ethical practices.
• Travel globally to engage with stakeholders, conduct training, and enhance processes.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Being a licensed customs broker is advantageous.
• Significant, hands-on experience in trade compliance, covering transactions, technology transfers, and tariffs.
• Profound hands-on expertise in ECCN/HTS classification and program management.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and scaling a global trade compliance team.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry or related advanced technology sectors is mandatory.
• Strong business acumen coupled with sound judgment.
• Executive presence and the capability to influence stakeholders beyond formal authority.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Experience in managing global trade compliance teams, systems implementations, and budget oversight.
• Ability to embrace new tools and technologies.
• Eligibility to access export-controlled information in accordance with applicable U.S. law.
