Director, Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technology operations, infrastructure, and development teams of the organization.

• Supervise software development related to product development, IT infrastructure, systems, and user support.

• Encourage innovation driven by technology and effective problem-solving across the organization.

• Ensure the seamless operation, security, and scalability of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud solutions.

• Create and enforce local IT policies, procedures, standards, and cybersecurity measures.

• Manage IT support services to enhance user satisfaction and reduce downtime.

• Oversee the design, development, and upkeep of in-house software applications and systems.

• Ensure compliance with software development best practices, focusing on code quality, testing, and deployment.

• Promote agile development methodologies and ensure efficient project management and delivery.

• Lead, mentor, and manage teams of software developers, IT professionals, and support staff.

• Handle talent acquisition, professional development, and performance management within the Technology department.

• Develop and oversee the technology budget.

• Assess, select, and manage third-party vendors, service providers, and consultants.

• Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Sales to deliver technology solutions.

• Engage in setting strategic direction and translating that strategy for the team.

• Direct activities through managers or senior professional staff.

• Interface with executives and major customers/stakeholders.

• Provide recommendations for objectives, policies, and plans.

• Manage staffing, budgets, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, promotions, and salary adjustments.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and scaling technology teams within a growth-focused environment.

• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, IT infrastructure management, and cybersecurity best practices.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Experience in budget management and vendor negotiations.

• Strategic thinker with a practical approach to problem-solving.

• Over 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles, specifically in managing software development and IT infrastructure teams.

• Previous experience in a regulated environment is advantageous.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Willingness to travel up to 15%.

• Local candidates are preferred; however, remote candidates will be considered.
