β’ Guide your team in investigating and implementing innovative technologies and methodologies, fostering a culture of creativity and ongoing enhancement to provide a top-tier regulated trading platform.
β’ Work collaboratively with Product, Compliance, and other engineering leaders to create integrated solutions that align with FMX's strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
β’ Utilize data and metrics to inform your team's decision-making processes, monitoring delivery speed, reliability service level objectives, and compliance status as fundamental indicators of team health.
β’ Promote a metrics-driven environment that emphasizes measurable outcomes, ranging from system uptime and latency to the completeness of audit trails and daily reporting precision.
β’ Invest in the development and success of your team, providing mentorship, supporting career growth, and helping to cultivate the next generation of engineering leaders at FMX.
β’ Supervise the creation of scalable, dependable systems while advancing the modernization of the Java codebase and overseeing new development in Go, Java, and Kotlin.
β’ Manage engineering processes suitable for a 24/7 regulated trading context, including sprint planning, on-call schedules, incident response, code review protocols, and change management.
β’ Establish robust cross-functional collaborations with legal, compliance, and the broader Fanatics engineering team to steer technical and product direction.
β’ Articulate complex technical ideas and regulatory requirements clearly and confidently to stakeholders at all levels, including executive management.
β’ Advocate for the adoption of AI-assisted development tools within your team, establishing benchmarks for responsible use that adhere to quality and security standards in a regulated environment.
β’ Keep abreast of industry trends in regulated trading infrastructures and prediction markets, introducing innovative ideas that enhance team performance.
β’ Be willing to travel occasionally for offsite meetings, cross-team collaborations, or regulatory engagements.
β’ Over 5 years of experience in engineering leadership, demonstrating a strong capability to mentor, develop talent, and inspire technical excellence.
β’ More than 10 years of experience in software engineering, preferably with a backend focus (Java, Go, or similar).
β’ Experience in regulated financial infrastructure is highly preferred, including brokerage systems, futures or derivatives exchanges, or similar regulated settings.
β’ Proven experience in designing and managing production systems with high-availability demands (24/7 uptime, low-latency, mission-critical).
β’ Strong comprehension of compliance responsibilities in regulated markets, including controls for data sensitivity and insider trading limitations.
β’ Thorough understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with the flexibility to adapt in a rapidly changing 0 to 1 environment.
β’ A track record of successfully delivering complex, scalable solutions with an emphasis on reliability and accuracy.
β’ Exceptional communication, influencing, and problem-solving abilities, equally adept at engaging with engineers, compliance teams, and executive stakeholders.
β’ Experience in leading distributed or remote teams across various time zones.
β’ Proven experience in utilizing or promoting AI development tools (Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, etc.) within an engineering team.
β’ A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
