Director, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete Nebula development lifecycle, which includes quarterly planning, sprint execution, release management, and post-release quality assurance.

• Establish and monitor engineering metrics, such as cycle time, escaped defects, and system availability.

• Identify risks early on and eliminate obstacles to ensure teams maintain focus.

• Enhance the platform architecture in collaboration with senior engineers.

• Champion modernization initiatives in areas such as service architecture, infrastructure automation, and observability.

• Collaborate with Product and applied research teams to transition AI features like ECAi, summarization, and sensitive-data detection from prototypes to production-quality solutions.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior individual contributors.

• Represent the engineering perspective for Nebula to executives, Product Marketing, and Client Services.

• Manage headcount planning, third-party technology partnerships, and the engineering budget for the group.

⛳️ Requirements

• More than 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in managing engineers and experience overseeing managers.

• Proven history of delivering and operating commercial SaaS products on a significant cloud platform.

• Experience in launching AI- or ML-driven product features into production, or strong collaboration with teams that have.

• Proficient in modern delivery practices: agile at scale, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.

• Demonstrated success in hiring and nurturing engineering leaders in a remote or distributed setting.

• Ability to communicate clearly and directly with executives and non-technical stakeholders.

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
