Director, Security Operations Center

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Supervise the daily functions of Thrive’s Security Operations Center, guiding and mentoring Tier 1 and Tier 2 SOC Analysts.

• Oversee security event monitoring, incident response, and resource allocation.

• Create and execute processes and procedures for incident response, threat detection and analysis, security event management, and reporting.

• Develop incident response and management playbooks, encompassing threat triage, incident investigation, and resolution.

• Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements, process compliance, and ongoing process enhancement.

• Conduct threat management and modeling, identify threat vectors, and formulate security monitoring use cases.

• Actively monitor and respond to both known and emerging threats.

• Generate reports, dashboards, and metrics for clients and senior management.

• Inspire and coach team members to meet departmental objectives and deliver exceptional customer service.

• Promote continuous improvement in SOC incident handling and security investigations.

• Establish metrics and KPIs to enhance quality and efficiency.

• Conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports.

• Maintain procedural standards for prioritization, communication, documentation, and escalations.

• Follow up with clients to identify areas for improvement and relay feedback to internal teams and management.

• Act as the escalation point for SOC customer service and technical issues.

• Adapt priorities and manage responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

• Perform additional tasks as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field is preferred, or a comparable combination of education and relevant work experience.

• Professional experience in a systems administration role supporting various platforms and applications.

• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in developing playbooks and effective security processes.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• 2–3 years of SOC experience; managerial experience is preferred.

• CISSP certification is preferred.
