This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more state.
• Lead various engineering teams responsible for the delivery, maintenance, and enhancement of established software platforms.
• Spearhead the modernization of legacy systems, focusing on improvements in architecture, code quality, and development practices.
• Assume ownership of research and development oversight for new acquisitions.
• Set and uphold engineering standards, governance, and best practices across all teams.
• Advocate for AI-assisted development tools aimed at enhancing code generation, testing, productivity, code quality, and developer experience.
• Provide approximately 20% hands-on leadership through architectural guidance, technical oversight, and mentorship.
• Collaborate with Product Management and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives related to modernization, technical debt reduction, and operational stability.
• Supervise software testing strategies and quality practices to ensure reliability, compliance, and performance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and the integrity of validated systems throughout the software lifecycle.
• Identify and eliminate delivery bottlenecks to enhance team velocity and cross-functional collaboration.
• Assess platform lifecycle decisions, including the consolidation, refactoring, or retirement of legacy components.
• Plan resources, team structures, and capability development effectively.
• Lead, coach, and nurture engineering managers and senior engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
• Proven track record of leading engineering teams that support established or legacy software platforms.
• Demonstrated success in modernizing legacy systems while ensuring operational stability and compliance.
• Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, life sciences, or clinical technology is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Product, Quality, and Engineering teams.
• Ability to work efficiently in a Remote/Hybrid environment within the US or Canada.
