This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Oversee several engineering teams tasked with the delivery, maintenance, and advancement of established software platforms.
• Propel the modernization of legacy systems, focusing on enhancements in architecture, code quality, and development practices.
• Assume responsibility for R&D oversight of new acquisitions.
• Set and enforce engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
• Advocate for AI-assisted development tools aimed at code generation, testing, and enhancing productivity.
• Provide practical architectural guidance, technical oversight, and mentorship for about 20% of the role.
• Collaborate with Product Management and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives related to modernization, reducing technical debt, and ensuring operational stability.
• Supervise software testing strategies and quality practices to ensure reliability, compliance, and performance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and the integrity of validated systems throughout the software lifecycle.
• Identify and eliminate delivery bottlenecks to enhance team velocity and cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaborate with Product on decisions regarding platform lifecycle, which includes consolidation, refactoring, or retirement.
• Plan resource allocation, team structures, and capability development.
• Mentor, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with relevant practical experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.
• More than 5 years in leadership roles within engineering.
• Proven track record in leading engineering teams that support established or legacy software platforms.
• Demonstrated success in modernizing legacy systems while ensuring operational stability and compliance.
• Experience in regulated sectors such as healthcare, life sciences, or clinical technology is preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working alongside Product, Quality, and Engineering teams.
• Capacity to work effectively in a Remote/Hybrid environment within the US or Canada.
• Proficiency in English is required.
