Director, Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Articulate and steer the vision for Dropbox’s next-generation design system.

• Lead the Design Systems and Design Technology as a center of excellence.

• Develop and enhance reusable product patterns that enhance core Dropbox experiences.

• Transition the team from reactive patternization to proactive product leadership.

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of shared patterns and components.

• Collaborate closely with leadership from Product, Engineering, Research, Brand, and Marketing.

• Elevate the craft and quality standards across Dropbox's product offerings.

• Establish an operational framework for product teams to encourage adoption.

• Lead and mentor a team of designers, design technologists, and systems specialists.

• Work in partnership with engineering leadership to strengthen the relationship between design systems and implementation standards.

• Create robust governance and contribution models for system evolution.

• Assist Dropbox in preparing for AI-native product experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in product design, design systems, design technology, or front-end development.

• At least 5 years of experience in people management.

• Extensive experience in building, scaling, or transforming design systems.

• Strong product judgment with the capability to link systems work directly to customer value.

• Exceptional abilities in systems thinking.

• High standards of craft across various design disciplines.

• Proven track record of influencing senior cross-functional partners.

• Strong technical fluency and comfort in collaborating with front-end engineering teams.

• Experience in defining governance and contribution models.
