This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Spearhead the firm's initiatives to identify and secure power opportunities that facilitate data center development projects.
• Determine markets and locations with adequate power capacity or potential for development to support hyperscale and AI-focused data center campuses.
• Assess transmission infrastructure, generation capacity, and utility expansion plans to guide development strategies.
• Counsel clients on power availability, interconnection pathways, and infrastructure limitations impacting prospective data center sites.
• Convert intricate power system, regulatory, and market dynamics into practical strategies for development teams and clients.
• Cultivate and sustain executive-level relationships with utilities, transmission operators, and regulatory bodies.
• Direct engagement with utilities concerning large-load service requests, interconnection strategies, and infrastructure planning.
• Assist in negotiations regarding utility tariffs, special contracts, and service agreements necessary for accommodating data center loads.
• Track utility and transmission planning initiatives that could influence power availability for large-scale developments.
• Collaborate with utilities and transmission planners to assess infrastructure upgrades needed to support substantial electrical loads.
• Guide clients through the utility and RTO interconnection procedures essential for delivering significant electrical loads.
• Offer strategic oversight of feasibility studies, system impact assessments, and infrastructure requirements linked to large-load interconnections.
• Provide insights on transmission expansion, substation development, and grid enhancements required for sizable data center campuses.
• Analyze transmission planning studies and interconnection queue dynamics to uncover risks and opportunities for project development.
• Act as a senior advisor to clients on power infrastructure strategies that support data center growth.
• Lead client interactions regarding power availability, infrastructure planning, and utility coordination.
• Deliver technical and strategic support during site selection, due diligence, and development planning phases.
• Contribute to business development by engaging in client pursuits, proposals, and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with internal development, preconstruction, design oversight, and construction management teams to weave power infrastructure planning into the overall project lifecycle.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams involved in complex consulting tasks related to power infrastructure.
• Provide executive-level insights on power-related risks that may influence project feasibility, costs, or schedules.
• Assist in formulating internal best practices and gathering market intelligence concerning data center power infrastructure.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Over 15 years of experience in power infrastructure, transmission planning, utility engagement, or energy strategy.
• Extensive background in supporting large-load infrastructure projects such as data centers, hyperscale campuses, or industrial developments.
• In-depth knowledge of electric power systems, transmission planning, and interconnection procedures.
• Experience collaborating with utilities, regional transmission organizations (RTOs), and energy infrastructure stakeholders.
• Proven track record of leading complex infrastructure initiatives involving utilities and large-scale power delivery.
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with utilities and regulatory stakeholders.
• Experience providing guidance to senior leadership and clients on intricate power infrastructure decisions.
