This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Report to the Senior Director of Policy.
• Lead initiatives in policy and advocacy to enhance access to federal charter school funding and boost federal support for charter schools.
• Act as the primary organizational representative on federal policy issues.
• Oversee regulatory engagement, including monitoring and analyzing regulatory proposals that impact charter schools.
• Craft stakeholder-informed comments representing the charter school community.
• Create, manage, and present materials related to the legislative and regulatory agenda.
• Design high-quality programming for the National Charter Schools Conference and other stakeholder gatherings.
• Formulate and promote a federal regulatory agenda across various agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor, Agriculture, and Treasury.
• Conduct innovative, comprehensive, and insightful policy analysis and development.
• Assist in fostering relationships and managing interactions with key policy partners and Administration officials.
• Gather input and encourage consensus on policy objectives within the charter school community.
• Create and maintain policy materials and talking points.
• Prepare the Government Relations team to promote organizational objectives.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with federal charter school policy stakeholders.
• Attend and provide reports on seminars and briefings regarding charter schools, school choice, and education reform.
• Aid in developing and expanding partnerships.
• Strong commitment to education reform, the charter school movement, and the mission of the National Alliance.
• Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is preferable for candidates.
• Minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience.
• Capability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and efficiently manage multiple responsibilities.
• Exceptional writing, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Detail-oriented and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
• Proficient in setting priorities, creating work schedules, monitoring progress towards goals, and tracking team and project details and data.
• A team player with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with others, establish goals, resolve issues, and make decisions that improve organizational effectiveness.
• Experience in cultivating partnerships with local leaders and organizations aligned with the organization's mission.
• Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Excel and managing a database system.
• Ideally located in the Washington, D.C. area.
