Director of State Campaigns

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and coordinate state-level initiatives to formulate and implement multi-year campaign strategies aimed at preparing assigned state legislators for the ratification of the For Our Freedom Amendment, while collaborating with the AP's federal team to prepare congressional delegations from those states to propose the amendment;

• Act as the primary liaison and coordinator among state partners, government affairs firms, and consultants to optimize outcomes and adjust campaign strategies in response to local developments;

• Collaborate with leadership in the Programs & Campaigns department to assist in the formulation of state budgets;

• Assist in leading and coordinating initiatives that connect our state and federal strategies, ensuring that advancements at the state level are effectively utilized in our federal efforts;

• Manage and mentor one or more Political Managers to support the strategic objectives of the Programs & Campaigns department;


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in issue advocacy, campaigns, or the nonprofit sector, including at least 2 years in legislative campaign roles;

• At least 3 years of managerial experience, responsible for decision-making, motivating, and developing team members;

• Exceptional skills in relationship building; open to diverse viewpoints; adaptable to changing circumstances;

• Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter with effective management and prioritization of multiple tasks to meet deadlines;

• Capable of contributing to a comprehensive vision while effectively managing daily details, proactively addressing challenges, and thinking flexibly;

• In-depth knowledge of a broad spectrum of advocacy, government affairs, and programmatic skills;

• Exhibits sound financial management and budget oversight capabilities while adhering to budgetary constraints;

• Strong critical and strategic thinking abilities;

• Willingness to travel as necessary and endure various indoor and outdoor climate conditions;

• Proficient in reading, writing, and cross-functional communication;

• Competent in mathematical skills;

• Able to lift up to 15 lbs;

• Proficient in operating a computer and standard office equipment;
