This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.
• Identify and develop the necessary capacities to achieve ambitious fundraising growth and enhance donor engagement for Nura, including hiring and managing team members, consultants, and service providers as needed.
• Collaborate closely with the broader Meliore development team to establish top-tier shared systems for fundraising and donor engagement.
• Motivate and support the senior leadership team and key partners in fostering a culture of shared fundraising excellence and achieving ambitious targets.
• Identify and cultivate new funding prospects, while strengthening relationships with existing institutional donors.
• Represent Nura within the wider Meliore development team, collaborating on the design and implementation of systems that aid in prospect identification, qualification, and cultivation by senior leaders.
• Create customized materials for funding prospects that highlight successes and present funding opportunities.
• Assist the Executive Director and other senior leaders in their interactions with current and prospective funding partners by organizing briefings, presentation materials, and managing projects throughout the grant development process.
• Supervise the creation and execution of an onboarding process for new funding partners.
• Provide guidance on relationship management and the delegation of responsibilities among senior leaders.
• Establish coordination mechanisms to ensure alignment when multiple teams and leaders engage with the same prospects or funding partners.
• Ensure donors receive regular, timely, and personalized updates, reports, presentations, and other stewardship materials regarding the status and impact of their grants.
• Develop, sustain, and continuously enhance core donor reporting processes, practices, and systems, including curated reporting templates, standards, and connections to key data sources (finance, impact, etc.), contributing to Meliore’s evolving systems.
• In partnership with regional and thematic leads, build and maintain a library of compelling collateral materials (strategies, case studies, fact sheets, etc.) to support funding partner engagements.
• Collaborate closely with the Movement/Ecosystem Director to assist our community of practice in their fundraising efforts as needed, and to identify stories, challenges, and opportunities arising from that community.
• Alongside the Executive Director and senior leadership team, help identify key grantees for fundraising support and development; provide tailored assistance and capacity-building based on grantee needs, potentially involving external coaches, consultants, or systems development, as well as light-touch mentoring, feedback, and donor matchmaking.
• Work with the wider Meliore development team to create donor prospecting systems and maintain a prospect database to track donor information and the status of outreach and relationships.
• Collaborate closely with the Nura and Meliore MEL teams to ensure accurate reporting on impact and learnings from our collective work.
• Partner with senior leaders to create a streamlined process for identifying funding gaps and recommending options to address them.
• Collaborate with finance colleagues to maintain a top-tier system for tracking the funding pipeline and revenue outlook.
• Contribute to fostering a healthy, inclusive, and empowered team culture that balances accountability with trust, safety, and innovation.
• Play a crucial role in promoting collaboration and high performance across the team and the broader Meliore network.
• Advocate for a culture of accountability and excellence at all levels of the organization.
• A seasoned leader in nonprofit development/fundraising, with proven expertise in establishing and managing fundraising infrastructure within complex, matrixed organizations, and in securing 7- and 8-figure funds for a diverse coalition or ecosystem of partners.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to cultivate long-term, trusting relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, partners, and audiences.
• A strong track record of effective stewardship of philanthropic relationships across various donor types (geographies and institutions).
• Experience in matrix management, with a demonstrated ability to build and develop a fundraising team and collaborate with various teams and levels of seniority within an organization.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate technical strategy documents into visually appealing donor-facing materials and craft powerful narratives through funder pitches, reports, and other communication methods on an ongoing basis.
• Proven ability to enhance the fundraising skills and capacities of other partners and team members.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
