Director of IT Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead the operational and strategic planning for IT, driving innovation, project planning, and resource allocation.

• Oversee and sustain networks and cloud infrastructure, including the planning, installation, configuration, and support of hardware/software for networking, server, desktop, and business systems.

• Administer 24/7 critical production support applications.

• Coordinate daily support issues across various sites to ensure systems remain highly reliable and operational.

• Maintain a documented inventory of software licenses, hardware, backup procedures, and IT processes.

• Implement technologies that proactively monitor and safeguard IT infrastructure.

• Monitor technology security, encompassing network account passwords and IP addresses.

• Conduct maintenance, repairs, backups, patches, and upgrades.

• Establish processes to ensure computing and networking systems remain in optimal condition.

• Keep business units informed about current and future IT activities and projects.

• Research existing and potential resources/services, providing recommendations for improvements.

• Manage IT personnel, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, and performance evaluation.

• Troubleshoot and deliver effective technical support.

• Manage and prioritize multiple projects.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related field.

• Certifications in AWS / Azure, MCSA, CompTIA Linux+, or CCNA are advantageous.

• Over 8 years of progressive IT experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a management role.

• Proficient in Windows OS, Active Directory, Terminal Servers, SQL, and Office365.

• Experience with distributed computing/client-server, NFS/NIS, DNS/WINS/DHCP, gateway/firewalls, LAN/WAN, and TCP/IP routing.

• Familiarity with VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of Azure / AWS / GCP cloud services is a plus.

• Strong understanding of server hardware, operating systems, protocols, standards, best practices, Terminal Services, desktops, and laptops.

• Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, analytical/problem-solving, vendor management, and interpersonal skills.
