This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of TMC’s HR strategy and operations as the leading HR professional for its remote, unionized environment.
• Report directly to the Chief of Staff, providing counsel to executive and senior leadership on people strategy, change management, organizational transitions, and risks related to personnel.
• Oversee HR infrastructure, including Rippling HRIS/PEO, benefits platforms, Greenhouse ATS, reporting, payroll, compensation, benefits, PTO, policies, documentation, and compliance reporting.
• Manage the complete employee lifecycle, focusing on employee relations, performance management, investigations, conflict resolution, employee experience research, retention, and engagement strategies.
• Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement, handle grievances, act as the staff liaison to the Labor Management Committee, and nurture labor-management relationships.
• Facilitate the Bi-Annual Equity Audit required by the CBA and monitor trends in labor relations and contract risks.
• Convert organizational strategy into people strategy and collaborate on workforce planning, organizational structure, role design, compensation alignment, and succession planning.
• Lead the People Operations team, establishing goals and OKRs, coaching team members, managing workload, and overseeing HR information spaces.
• Mentor managers, conduct challenging conversations, develop training and resources for managers, and facilitate manager meetings.
• Contribute to organizational strategy as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 4 years in a senior HR leadership position and 2+ years of people management.
• Practical experience in CBA administration within a unionized setting, including contract interpretation, grievance management, and labor-management collaboration.
• Current HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP), or a commitment to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
• Demonstrated success as the senior HR leader for a small-to-mid-sized organization of about 50 employees, ideally functioning as a sole HR practitioner or with minimal direct support.
• Experience working across various state jurisdictions.
• Skilled in employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace investigations.
• Strong foundation in HR compliance, federal and state employment law, and labor relations.
• Proven track record in building and maintaining reliable HR systems, processes, and documentation.
• Experience managing HRIS, benefits management systems, and ATS.
• Background in values-driven, progressive, member-focused, and/or nonprofit organizations.
• Experience facilitating significant change-management initiatives.
• Demonstrated dedication to anti-racism, equity, and justice in workplace practices.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with emotional intelligence, discretion, and good judgment.
• Strong project management, prioritization, documentation, and follow-through abilities.
• Capability to translate employment law and CBA concepts into practical advice.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, and Asana.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting.
• Must reside and work within the continental United States.
• Must confirm identity and eligibility to work in the United States; TMC will not sponsor work visas or green cards.
