Director of Grants and Foundations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily execution of AH&H’s institutional fundraising strategy involving foundations, state government funders, and NGO intermediaries and re-granters.

• Take the lead on the complete proposal process — from drafting concept notes and letters of inquiry to full proposals, applications, and follow-up after submission.

• Ensure stringent compliance, reporting, and stewardship practices across the portfolio.

• Manage relationships with existing and potential institutional funders through highly tailored engagement strategies.

• Establish the operational framework for an institutional fundraising function that is prepared to expand alongside AH&H.

• Supervise and mentor one direct report (Grant Manager).

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of progressive experience in institutional fundraising, grants management, foundation relations, or proposal writing — preferably in the humanitarian, international NGO, disaster response, or broader social impact sectors.

• Proven track record of personally writing and submitting successful grant proposals worth five-, six-, and (preferably) seven-figures to US foundations.

• The ideal candidate for this position is a proactive doer — independent, organized, and adept with technology.

• Exceptional written communication skills in US English.

• A genuine interest in technology and a curiosity about new tools.
