This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Direct financial accounting and advisory services across various operating entities.
• Create and uphold accounting policies, procedures, financial controls, and standards for the chart of accounts.
• Assess the financial health, performance, and sustainability of operational units.
• Perform financial reviews, analyze KPIs, and formulate corrective action plans in collaboration with leadership.
• Offer strategic financial guidance to mission leaders and stakeholders.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, variance analysis, and performance tracking.
• Manage financial reporting, reconciliations, and the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Handle audits, regulatory filings, charitable and tax returns, and preparation of financial statements.
• Assist in cash flow management, capital projects, government funding initiatives, and stakeholder reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance personnel while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• A completed undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory.
• Five to seven (5-7) years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or business management.
• Leadership experience in budgeting, financial management, and operational oversight.
• Experience in supervisory and leadership roles, including coaching, mentoring, and team development.
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, financial management, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and audit processes.
• Proven experience in devising solutions for complex business and financial challenges and managing large-scale projects.
• Capability to exercise sound judgment with a significant degree of independence.
• Strong grasp of integrated business systems, automated workflows, accounting technologies, as well as cloud-based and web-enabled applications.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
• Proficient in interpreting, analyzing, and presenting complex financial data.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, stakeholder engagement, and customer service abilities.
• Experience in the non-profit sector is considered advantageous.
