Director of Finance and Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the monthly and annual financial close, collaborating with the external accounting team to ensure precise and timely financial reports.

• Manage the financial model, budgeting, and forecasting processes, including performance tracking, variance identification, and providing clear outlook analysis.

• Develop financial reporting and analysis for leadership and assist with board reporting.

• Oversee company expenditures and financial controls, guiding teams to spend wisely while upholding financial discipline.

• Administer vendor management, contracts, and renewals, coordinating with external counsel and other specialists when necessary.

• Handle HR administration tasks, which encompass payroll and benefits management, onboarding and offboarding processes, compensation adjustments, performance reviews, and compliance oversight.

• Supervise key back-office systems, service providers, and recurring obligations, including the PEO, insurance, tax matters, and corporate compliance.

• Continuously enhance processes and controls while supporting projects beyond the core mandate where value can be added.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7-10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.

• Ideally, previous experience as the senior-most finance professional or the second-in-command in a finance department at a startup or similarly streamlined environment.

• Strong foundation in accounting principles and experience overseeing a monthly financial close.

• Proficient in FP&A skills, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.

• Experience interacting with HR administration, vendors, contracts, and outside professional service providers.

• Exceptional judgment, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the capability to independently manage a wide range of responsibilities.

• A proactive approach and a proven record of enhancing the processes and systems around you.

• Experience in private equity-backed or investor-backed settings, including board or lender reporting, is a significant advantage.
