This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide strategic leadership and take ownership of all accounting, financial planning, and operational functions.
• Develop, document, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations.
• Drive the financial close process on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Ensure that financial statements are accurate, complete, and delivered in a timely manner.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash operations, cash forecasting, liquidity management, and treasury activities.
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditing firms.
• Manage internal audit programs and address findings and recommendations.
• Lead initiatives for optimizing accounting processes, automation, and system improvements.
• Ensure adherence to governmental financial and tax regulations.
• Support and advance tax strategy initiatives while collaborating with external tax consultants.
• Implement and uphold internal controls to detect and prevent fraud while ensuring accurate financial records.
• Evaluate emerging financial and operational risks and establish mitigation strategies.
• Lead FP&A functions, including budgeting, scenario modeling, and variance analysis.
• Provide analytical support for executive decision-making and capital allocation processes.
• Manage financial reporting for the board and lenders.
• Collaborate with operational leaders on strategic business decisions.
• Assess capital management, working capital optimization, and opportunities for cost reduction.
• Partner with leadership on long-term planning, financing operations, investor relations, and pricing strategies.
• Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing finance and accounting team.
• Promote accountability, develop talent, and encourage continuous improvement.
• Encourage collaboration across finance and other departments.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, lenders, and other financial stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary operational contact for matters related to audit, tax, and compliance.
• Address internal and external requests for financial information with timely analysis and recommendations.
• Assist management and board committees with financial analysis, reporting, and presentations.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive consumer information.
• Adhere to company policies regarding data privacy, protection, and loss prevention.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
• At least 5 years of direct responsibility for accounting operations, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
• A hands-on approach and an ownership mentality.
• Ability to excel in both structured and unstructured environments.
• Experience overseeing accounting close processes, financial statement preparation, GAAP compliance, and external reporting.
• Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and modeling.
• Extensive experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Knowledge of internal controls, COSO framework, and audit best practices.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance and requirements for larger organizations.
• Experience in managing accounting and finance teams and nurturing talent.
• Advanced skills in Excel and financial analysis tools.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to convey concepts simply and clearly.
• Experience in process mapping, redesign, and methodologies for continuous improvement.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with external auditors and manage audit engagements.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and control.
• Capability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive consumer information.
• Compliance with applicable privacy and data protection regulations.
• Ability to perform effectively in a professional office environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in communicating and exchanging information clearly and effectively.
• Capability to operate a computer and use office equipment.
• Ability to lift, push, or otherwise move equipment weighing between 10–30 pounds.
