This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the tracking, allocation, and compliance of 35 restricted revenue streams, encompassing budgeting, award processing, disbursement, post-award monitoring, and closeout.
• Collaborate with the Partnerships and Programs teams to formulate budgets and maintain systems for revenue allocation and tracking.
• Manage intricate compliance obligations, including audits from Canadian and European governments and reporting specific to funders.
• Supervise financial planning, management, forecasting, scenario planning, and reporting activities.
• Develop the annual organizational budget while ensuring the accurate recording of accounts receivable, accounts payable, restricted funds, and related releases.
• Direct investment strategies and oversee banking relationships.
• Coordinate materials for audits and supervise the review of draft audits and Form 990s.
• Lead financial reporting for consortium partners and over 20 funders each year.
• Provide regular updates to the Finance and Audit Committees and present the annual and midyear budgets.
• Enhance financial systems, software, standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as revenue and expense tracking processes.
• Collaborate on payroll and benefits systems and their administration.
• Coordinate with global Sister Funds across various time zones regarding projections, income tracking, reporting, and shared systems.
• Participate on the Management Team, contributing to organization-wide leadership and strategic decision-making.
• Supervise the Finance and Administration Officer and manage an external accounting firm.
• Lead the development of the Finance team, workflows, budget processes, grant tracking, financial reporting, payroll, benefits, and 4–6 annual audits.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in revenue management, philanthropy, or nonprofit financial administration.
• At least 7 years of progressively senior experience managing finance, accounting, grant management, and fund accounting within a nonprofit environment.
• More than 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
• A solid understanding of feminisms, social justice, and human rights issues affecting women, trans, gender non-binary, and intersex individuals.
• Proven experience in leading values-centered financial operations across different departments and within multicultural, global, and remote contexts.
• Proficiency in partnering with programs and fundraising teams in complex grantmaking scenarios.
• Experience in assessing financial and operational risks in international grantmaking, including due diligence, fiscal sponsorship, compliance, and fraud prevention.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for converting complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, collaboration, and coordination abilities.
• Outstanding quantitative analysis skills with a history of implementing cost-saving measures and infrastructure development.
• High level of discretion, integrity, and executive judgment.
• Experience in people management and leadership.
• Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and address problems in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in leading continuous feedback and performance management throughout transitions and changes.
• Digital fluency, including software selection and implementation, vendor management, reporting tools, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Google Suite, Microsoft applications, and Expensify in a Mac environment is preferred.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 15% of the time.
• Comfort in working across diverse cultures and within domestic and international time zones.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Full-time position, 36 hours per week within a 4-day workweek.
