Director of Engineering, Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the engineering strategy and technical vision for Turnkey's Product Engineering team, covering key management, APIs and interfaces, transaction processing, and secure, independently verifiable infrastructure.

• Build, oversee, and expand a high-performing engineering team, which includes recruiting and developing engineering managers and senior individual contributors.

• Collaborate with Product and Design leadership to convert customer and market demands into a coherent technical roadmap.

• Identify and assess emerging web3 technologies, guiding their integration into the product offerings.

• Contribute to the broader company strategic planning and technical decision-making as a member of the engineering leadership group.

• Define and refine the organizational structure, leveling, and career development paths.

• Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for engineering talent.

• Establish and maintain engineering rituals, including planning sessions, incident reviews, and on-call duties.

• Mentor and develop managers and senior engineers.

• Offer technical direction across security-critical product systems.

• Supervise TEE- and HSM-based key management and signing systems, APIs, SDKs, dashboards, transaction construction and broadcasting systems, as well as independently verifiable security infrastructure.

• Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of product infrastructure in the context of decentralized systems and adversarial threat models.

• Define and implement processes for quality and consistency from design to deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing engineering managers and/or leading a multi-team engineering organization (not merely individual teams).

• Extensive knowledge of contemporary application architectures and security-critical systems (such as HSMs, TEEs, key management), with the capability to engage in detailed technical discussions and make final decisions on trade-offs.

• A proven history of delivering security-critical or developer-facing products (including key management, signing infrastructure, APIs, or SDKs) at scale.

• A strong commitment to maintaining high standards for software quality and engineering processes, even in fast-paced environments.

• A healthy degree of paranoia about security.

• Previous experience in dynamic crypto/web3 and/or FinTech companies, particularly with a focus on custody, key management, or HSM/enclave-based systems.

• Experience in scaling an engineering organization through significant growth phases (e.g., from Series B to C, or similar).

• Actively monitor developments in the crypto ecosystem and have well-formed opinions on its trajectory.
