Director of Engineering, Artificial Intelligence – AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a dedicated team of approximately twenty engineers

• Foster performance management, support professional development, and outline career progression and promotion pathways

• Act as the main escalation point for engineering issues

• Collaborate with Resource Management and the practice lead to steer team staffing strategies

• Manage contractor operations, including onboarding, contract renewals, and engagement delivery

• Provide mentorship and coaching to team leads

• Spearhead the practice-wide hiring initiative, interviewer calibration, and collaboration with Talent Acquisition

• Advocate for career advancement, mentorship, management empowerment, and performance evaluation cycles

• Direct the internal accelerator program and establish production-ready client standards

• Maintain an active billable portfolio of approximately 50% across advisory and platform consulting roles

• Offer technical guidance on AI SDLC initiatives and the adoption of AI tools

• Develop AI governance solutions, assessment frameworks, observability platforms, audit trails, and production safety measures

• Design enterprise platform and pipeline implementations, including agentic AI frameworks and automated promotion pipelines

• Consult with client engineering leaders and critically assess technical methodologies as necessary

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, encompassing significant leadership roles in guiding full engineering organizations

• Proven experience in managing engineering leaders and managers, with a record of scaling teams and organizational frameworks

• Demonstrated capability to establish recruiting systems, onboarding programs, engineering standards, and career paths with measurable outcomes

• Strong technical expertise in platform, pipeline, and infrastructure architecture

• Hands-on experience in deploying production AI/ML systems, particularly in platform architecture, MLOps/LLMOps pipelines, governance, and operational resilience

• Extensive knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or demonstrated technical agility to quickly adapt to a GCP-centric delivery stack

• Strong consulting skills, including the ability to manage ambiguity, navigate client-facing dynamics, handle concurrent engagements, and understand business drivers

• Experience in professional services is preferred

• Collaborative mindset and ease in partnering with practice leadership

• Excellent communication skills and executive presence
