This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +8 more states.
• Collaborate with the VP of Compliance and Quality to create and implement the hospice compliance strategy for the organization.
• Keep track of federal and state regulatory updates across all operational markets and evaluate their impact on the organization.
• Ensure adherence to Medicare Conditions of Participation, state licensing standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Act as a subject matter expert on hospice regulatory obligations.
• Supervise the Clinical Compliance and Audit sub-team, which includes clinical and technical auditing functions.
• Develop and uphold the internal audit strategy based on regulatory risks and trends in external audits.
• Evaluate audit outcomes and pinpoint systemic issues that necessitate corrective actions or clinical training.
• Manage the corrective action process from root cause analysis to resolution and monitoring.
• Create, monitor, and finalize corrective action plans arising from audits, surveys, and incident reviews.
• Manage policy oversight, which encompasses development, review cycles, regulatory compliance, and approval procedures.
• Perform internal compliance investigations and keep thorough documentation of these investigations.
• Oversee processes related to incidents, complaints, and grievances, reporting trends to the VP of Compliance and Quality.
• Coordinate responses to external TPE, CERT, and UPIC audits, including documentation, timelines, and appeals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• A current RN license is mandatory.
• Clinical experience in hospice or home health is essential.
• At least 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, quality, or regulatory affairs, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership position.
• Proven understanding of Medicare hospice Conditions of Participation, state licensing criteria, and CMS audit procedures (TPE, CERT, UPIC).
• Experience in developing and overseeing corrective action plans and governance for policies.
• Strong analytical capabilities to discern patterns in audit data and convert findings into actionable recommendations.
