This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Develop, own, and execute IEEFA Australia’s communication strategy, encompassing positioning, messaging, channel selection, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 4–6 communications professionals.
• Oversee team performance, wellbeing, daily priorities, and skill development.
• Provide guidance to analysts on research framing, key messaging, timing, product formats, and campaign launches.
• Manage media engagement and sustain relationships with journalists.
• Drive the political engagement strategy and nurture senior-level connections with political stakeholders.
• Oversee social media, EDMs/newsletters, and the stakeholder database/CRM.
• Ensure communication outputs adhere to IEEFA's standards for quality, accuracy, editorial integrity, branding, and message consistency.
• Maintain partner relationships and identify opportunities for collaboration.
• Establish and maintain communication KPIs and dashboards for media, web, social, and engagement metrics.
• Participate in IEEFA’s Global Communications Team and contribute to cross-regional collaboration, standards, campaigns, platforms, and positioning.
• Advise and support the CEO on reputation management, government and funder relations, contentious issues, and crisis communications.
• Ensure operational governance, archiving, documented database processes, and effective use of project management tools.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned, which may include travel within Australia or internationally.
• Over 7 years of proven experience in communications, media, and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience in developing and leading communication strategies and supervising teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Exceptional media relations skills and an established network among national, specialist, and ideally financial/energy media.
• Strong comprehension of Australian government, policy, and parliamentary processes.
• Sound political judgment in politically sensitive environments.
• Ability to distill complex technical research into clear, engaging messages for non-specialist audiences.
• Experience in creating and executing digital content strategies across social media and web platforms.
• Proven track record in fostering audience engagement and followership.
• Experience in setting and reporting communication metrics and KPIs, utilizing insights to enhance performance.
• Experience in finance, energy, public policy, or the non-profit sector is highly desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and remote collaboration tools.
