📋 Description

• WM Partners is in search of a Commercial Director who embodies the essence of a builder, innovator, and brand champion—someone who not only understands how to scale consumer brands but also lives the values that drive them.

• This leader will report directly to Michael Marquis, Executive Managing Director, and will be responsible for architecting the commercial capabilities essential for unlocking value across the entire portfolio.

• This position is not suited for individuals who prefer to operate within strict boundaries or traditional corporate frameworks.

• You will define the growth trajectory for WM Partners through excellence in digital marketing, brand development, consumer insights, performance analytics, agency optimization, and commercial readiness for both existing brands and future acquisitions.

• Develop and institutionalize agile, entrepreneurial commercial capabilities that enhance all portfolio companies.

• Create playbooks, frameworks, and systems that teams can swiftly adopt—even with limited resources or emerging infrastructures.

• Identify commercial gaps and implement practical, impactful solutions that generate immediate and sustained value.

• Lead the development of brand identity, positioning, and growth strategies, ensuring alignment with consumer needs and authentic wellness values.

• Guarantee each brand possesses a distinct, emotionally resonant narrative—one that team members genuinely believe in and embody.

• Shape comprehensive growth strategies across multiple channels (DTC, Amazon, retail, international).

• Establish exceptional digital performance systems encompassing paid media, CRM, lifecycle marketing, content, and eCommerce optimization.

• Promote data-driven decision-making, KPI development, and real-time performance dashboards.

• Build strong consumer insight capabilities, including segmentation, journey mapping, research, and analytics.

• Transform consumer data into innovative creative strategies, product positioning, and marketing activations.

• Identify and assess best-fit agencies for digital, creative, brand, research, and commercial operations.

• Hold partners accountable for results—not just activities—and ensure excellent ROI.

• Create standardized KPI frameworks that all portfolio brands can adopt.

• Develop dashboards that provide predictive insights, early risk detection, and a consistent focus on value creation.

• Lead the commercial diligence workstream during acquisitions, assessing brand strength, consumer traction, digital maturity, marketing efficiency, and operational scalability.

• Identify value-creation levers and risks with a builder’s mindset rather than a banker’s.

• Inspire portfolio leaders with contagious energy, optimism, creativity, and belief in the potential of our brands.

• Pose bold, unconventional questions that challenge existing assumptions.

• Exemplify the culture WMP aspires to build: courageous, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and purpose-driven.


⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years in commercial, digital, brand, growth, or P&L-focused roles—ideally within consumer, CPG, wellness, or high-growth brands.

• Proven track record of building capabilities from the ground up; experience in settings where resourcefulness is as critical as available resources.

• Demonstrated success in leading digital marketing, brand strategy, analytics, and omnichannel growth initiatives.

• Ability to evaluate, select, and manage agencies with high scrutiny and expectations.

• Experience in private equity, founder-led companies, or multi-brand ecosystems is preferred.
