This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Overseeing and promoting all sales initiatives for WaterSurplus solutions and equipment within the municipal and public utilities sector across North America.
• Organizing and engaging in various business development activities, including sales calls, lunch & learns, congresses, conferences, trade shows, and more.
• Cultivating and sustaining robust relationships with municipal utility directors, public works officials, consulting engineers, EPC firms, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Consulting and negotiating with clients to formulate project specifications, create proposals, establish lead times and pricing, as well as manage customer communications.
• Directing, coordinating, and collaborating with application engineering to develop and generate sales proposals, budgets, cost estimates, bids, and contracts for both new and existing clients.
• Establishing and nurturing strong business relationships with customers at various levels, along with key strategic suppliers and partners.
• Keeping the company informed about all activities, opportunities, challenges, and project timelines.
• Maintaining and updating the sales database (WinMan) and preparing sales forecasts.
• Analyzing and actively sharing information regarding the market, including competition and both qualitative and quantitative market analysis.
• Working in tandem with operations and production teams to review project specifications, participate in (and possibly coordinate) kickoff meetings, support change order communications, and ensure ongoing customer engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contributing to the creation of sales tools and the overall sales strategy.
• Assisting in the commercialization efforts for the company’s innovative technologies.
• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of sales experience in the municipal water and wastewater treatment sector.
• Demonstrated success in selling capital equipment, treatment systems, or process technologies to municipal utilities.
• An established network of municipal utility leaders, consulting engineers, and contractors.
• In-depth knowledge of municipal water and wastewater treatment processes, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Technical capability to comprehend and convey equipment specifications, treatment technologies, and solution advantages; process design engineering experience is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and relationship-building abilities, with the capacity to influence customers and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Proven sales competencies in prospecting, account management, contract negotiations, and fostering long-term customer relationships.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, results-driven, and equipped with strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Familiarity with municipal water products, technologies, and services is preferred.
