This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee and promote all sales initiatives for WaterSurplus solutions and equipment within the municipal and public utilities sector across North America.
• Organize and engage in various business development activities, including sales calls, lunch & learns, congresses, conferences, trade shows, and more.
• Establish and nurture robust relationships with municipal utility directors, public works officials, consulting engineers, EPC firms, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Consult with clients to negotiate and prepare project specifications, develop proposals, manage lead times and pricing, and facilitate customer communications.
• Direct, coordinate, and collaborate with application engineering on the creation and development of sales proposals, budgets, cost estimates, bids, and contracts for both new and existing clients.
• Build and uphold strong business connections with customers at multiple levels, as well as with essential strategic suppliers and partners.
• Keep the company informed of all activities, opportunities, challenges, and project timelines.
• Maintain and update the sales database (WinMan) and generate sales forecasts.
• Analyze market data and actively share insights regarding competition and qualitative and quantitative market dynamics.
• Work collaboratively with operations and production teams to review project specifications, take part in (and potentially coordinate) kickoff meetings, support change order communications, and sustain ongoing customer engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to the creation of sales tools and the overall sales strategy.
• Assist in the commercialization initiatives for the company’s new technologies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of sales experience in the municipal water and wastewater treatment sector.
• Proven track record in selling capital equipment, treatment systems, or process technologies to municipal utilities.
• Established connections with municipal utility leaders, consulting engineers, and contractors.
• Strong understanding of municipal water and wastewater treatment processes, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Technical proficiency in understanding and communicating equipment specifications, treatment technologies, and solution advantages; experience in process design engineering is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and relationship-building abilities with a capacity to influence customers and collaborate across diverse teams.
• Demonstrated sales skills in prospecting, account management, contract negotiations, and fostering long-term customer relationships.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Familiarity with municipal water products, technologies, and services is preferred.
