Director of Business Development – Higher Education, Food Service Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead Sales Strategy: Formulate and implement impactful sales strategies to meet both personal and organizational revenue objectives within the higher education sector.

• Pipeline Development: Create and oversee a strong three-year pipeline of qualified prospects; utilize CRM tools to ensure ongoing tracking and communication.

• Proposal & RFP Management: Assess RFPs and RFIs for alignment and feasibility; spearhead the creation of pricing and technical proposals using company resources and financial modeling tools.

• Client Engagement: Establish and nurture client relationships throughout the sales cycle, including discovery meetings, presentations, tastings, and contract negotiations.

• Industry & Market Research: Remain informed about competitor activities, industry trends, and client needs; leverage insights to enhance Genuine Foods' positioning and sales approach.

• Regulatory Compliance: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of contracting regulations and institutional requirements for higher education clients.

• Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with culinary, operations, marketing, and leadership teams to create and deliver comprehensive, client-focused solutions.

• Provide consistent updates to leadership regarding sales activities, pipeline status, and market intelligence; ensure CRM data remains accurate and current.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of consultative sales experience, with at least 3 years focused on selling contract foodservice management solutions to higher education institutions.

• Strong comprehension of campus dining operations, student experience priorities, and university procurement and contracting procedures.

• Proven success in developing complex proformas and executing financial analysis.

• A history of surpassing sales targets and successfully negotiating contracts.

• Expertise in identifying and responding to RFPs/RFIs.

• A pre-existing network and relationships with higher education clients are highly preferred.

• An entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and team-oriented attitude, coupled with strong adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.
