Director, Medical Affairs – Oncology and Hematologic Malignancies

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Act as a physician leader and medical authority for Labcorp Oncology in the areas of hematologic malignancies, precision oncology, and associated diagnostic services.

β€’ Establish and nurture scientific relationships with community oncologists, hematologists, academic researchers, key opinion leaders, and professional organizations.

β€’ Offer physician-to-physician consultation on oncology diagnostics, biomarker approaches, test usage, and current standards of care.

β€’ Engage in customer-facing scientific discussions, advisory boards, educational initiatives, and strategic engagements with stakeholders.

β€’ Assist with medical calls and address provider inquiries that require physician-level expertise.

β€’ Keep abreast of new clinical evidence, treatment strategies, and professional guidelines.

β€’ Represent Labcorp Oncology at national, local, and international scientific conferences.

β€’ Design and implement medical education programs for both internal and external audiences.

β€’ Lead the creation of presentations, molecular tumor boards, evidence summaries, FAQs, training materials, and educational resources.

β€’ Facilitate onboarding, training, and continuous education for commercial and cross-functional teams.

β€’ Provide medical insight for market access initiatives, payer-facing materials, policy evaluations, coverage discussions, and evidence-based value propositions.

β€’ Collaborate with Market Access, Commercial, Marketing, Product, Research, and Laboratory teams.

β€’ Track reimbursement trends and healthcare-system factors that influence diagnostic adoption.

β€’ Aid clinical research initiatives, real-world evidence programs, publications, abstracts, and scientific presentations.

β€’ Work together with internal and external researchers to broaden the evidence base for oncology diagnostic applications.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution.

β€’ Board Certification in Hematology, Medical Oncology, or Hematology/Oncology.

β€’ Fellowship training in Hematology, Medical Oncology, or Hematology/Oncology.

β€’ 7 or more years of cumulative experience following fellowship training in clinical practice, academic medicine, diagnostics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, laboratory medicine, or medical affairs.

β€’ At least 3 years of experience in developing medical education programs, scientific content, and training materials.

β€’ Preferred: 3 or more years of medical affairs experience in diagnostics, precision medicine, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or laboratory services organizations.

β€’ Preferred: 3 or more years of experience in molecular diagnostics, genomic profiling, biomarker testing, or precision oncology.

β€’ Willingness to travel up to 50%.

β€’ Knowledge of hematologic malignancies, precision oncology, molecular diagnostics, and evidence-based oncology care.

β€’ Familiarity with oncology treatment pathways, practice guidelines, and emerging therapeutic trends.

β€’ Capability to critically assess scientific literature and convert data into clinically actionable insights.

β€’ Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.

β€’ Proficient in engaging effectively with healthcare providers, payers, key opinion leaders, and other stakeholders.

β€’ Competence to influence within a matrixed organization and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

β€’ Experience in contributing to publications, abstracts, posters, and clinical research programs.

β€’ Background in supporting physician-to-physician consultations, customer-facing interactions, advisory boards, or medical information services.

β€’ Experience presenting scientific and clinical information to professional audiences.

β€’ Proven ability to lead teams, programs, committees, strategic initiatives, or cross-functional projects.

β€’ Experience working effectively in matrixed organizations.

β€’ Expertise in hematologic malignancies and an understanding of broader oncology treatment paradigms.

β€’ Experience engaging healthcare providers, health systems, payers, academic institutions, or industry stakeholders in scientific exchange activities.

β€’ Experience supporting payer engagement, reimbursement strategy, or evidence generation initiatives.
