This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Act as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, offering strategic guidance on legal, governance, organizational, operational, advocacy, and institutional development issues.
• Simplify complex legal matters into actionable, strategic recommendations for colleagues without legal backgrounds.
• Counsel on legal, operational, political, and reputational risks impacting organizational decision-making.
• Manage and supervise external legal counsel across the various jurisdictions in which Fòs Feminista operates.
• Cultivate and sustain strategic relationships with external legal advisors, including pro bono law firms and specialized legal experts across numerous jurisdictions.
• Assist the CEO and leadership in ensuring that legal considerations align with the long-term organizational strategy and institutional resilience.
• Provide counsel on organizational initiatives and their execution.
• Offer legal insights on issues related to organizational sustainability, financial resilience, and long-term institutional growth.
• Keep track of geopolitical and regulatory changes that may impact Fòs Feminista's global initiatives.
• Regularly maintain and update an organizational risk register to document potential risks.
• Enhance executive decision-making by incorporating legal analysis with organizational, political, and operational factors.
• Ensure adherence to relevant legal and regulatory standards throughout the United States, hiring locations, and other jurisdictions.
• Oversee contracts, grant agreements, procurement processes, intellectual property issues, employment matters, privacy concerns, and corporate compliance.
• Counsel on nonprofit regulations, charitable solicitation, lobbying limits, advocacy activities, and tax-exempt criteria.
• Provide legal oversight and counsel to ensure compliance obligations and proper separations for operating both the 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities.
• Design and enhance institutional policies, employment practices, and compliance systems, ensuring alignment with risk management that fosters accountability while promoting innovation.
• Facilitate governance processes across Fòs Feminista's network of affiliated organizations and legal entities, including ensuring compliance with all annual filings and requirements.
• Assist in the maintenance and development of bylaws, governance policies, corporate documentation, and governance frameworks.
• Offer legal advice across Fòs Feminista's network of affiliated organizations, subsidiaries, partnerships, and collaborative efforts.
• Juris Doctor (JD) or an equivalent law degree.
• At least ten years of progressive legal experience in corporate governance, nonprofit law, and supporting multi-entity structures across various countries and legal jurisdictions.
• Experience providing counsel to international nonprofit organizations, philanthropic institutions, or mission-driven entities.
• Proven track record in advising executive leadership and governing boards.
• Established ability to develop and manage trusted networks of external advisors and partners in support of the organizational mission.
• Exceptional skill in analyzing and translating complex legal issues into practical advice for senior leaders and non-lawyers.
• Eagerness to learn about and develop expertise in specialized areas of international corporate and financial law.
• Demonstrated capability to juggle multiple priorities and coordinate across diverse teams with outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with intermediate proficiency in Spanish.
