This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
β’ Oversee all labor relations and employee relations matters within the assigned region.
β’ The Director of Labor Relations will act as the primary spokesperson during contract negotiations, tasked with planning, negotiating, and executing collective bargaining agreement (CBA) renewals.
β’ Actively engages with and advises operations managers and regional leadership on a wide array of labor relations issues, including disciplinary actions and contract administration.
β’ Represents the Company in arbitration cases and before the National Labor Relations Board.
β’ Addresses union organizing activities, providing positive employee relations training and campaign assistance to managers and field HR as required.
β’ Prepares for and negotiates both initial and renewal labor agreements in alignment with corporate objectives.
β’ Utilizes and navigates Excel-based cost models during the planning and preparation for economic negotiations.
β’ Works with local and regional operations leadership to ensure alignment on negotiation strategies and direction.
β’ Drafts contract proposals and counterproposals as needed before and during negotiations.
β’ Concludes negotiation settlements and prepares a comprehensive Memorandum of Agreement for the parties' signatures.
β’ Builds and maintains strong relationships with union leaders.
β’ Provides guidance and oversight on grievances, arbitration cases, and unfair labor practice charges.
β’ Develops presentations and leads informative discussions and/or training sessions with operations leaders, HR colleagues, and Labor Relations team members.
β’ Aids in the development and enhancement of company-wide practices, processes, and forms.
β’ Collaborates to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
β’ 5-10 years of relevant experience in labor relations, preferably in a multi-union environment.
β’ Proven track record in managing all facets of labor negotiations.
β’ Knowledgeable in the interpretation of the National Labor Relations Act.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
β’ Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
β’ Demonstrated leadership skills in driving organizational change to achieve and surpass business goals.
β’ Familiarity with multiemployer health and welfare and/or pension plans is a plus.
β’ A Bachelorβs Degree in a relevant field is mandatory; an Advanced Degree, such as an MBA, JD, or Masterβs in Industrial Relations, is preferred.
