Director, GTM AI Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the GTM AI Engineering team at Samsara.

• Develop, deploy, and refine AI agents, copilots, and workflow automations tailored for go-to-market teams.

• Take ownership of the architecture for the shared GTM AI platform, encompassing orchestration, LLM and tool gateways, identity management, access controls, MCP, and SDK agreements.

• Create and implement evaluation frameworks utilizing golden datasets, LLM-as-judge methodologies, human review processes, regression suites, transcript evaluations, and production assessments.

• Integrate AI agents, coding assistants, and agent harnesses into daily operations while developing shared tools for the team.

• Monitor models, agent frameworks, MCP and tool ecosystems, and context engineering; provide recommendations on build-versus-buy decisions.

• Promote AI initiatives across Sales, Customer Success, and Support through demonstrations and field insights.

• Direct the technical and product strategy for GTM AI, addressing data foundations, instrumentation, governance, observability, model routing, and expenditure controls.

• Manage forecasting, propensity, and CRM data-quality initiatives utilized by sales leadership.

• Collaborate with GTM, Product, and Engineering leaders to pinpoint opportunities, establish success metrics, and create sustainable products.

• Implement responsible AI practices that encompass safety, privacy, reliability, and human-in-the-loop approvals.

• Recruit, nurture, and lead a diverse, high-performing AI Engineering team.

• Incorporate Samsara’s cultural principles as the organization expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, data science, or data platforms, including substantial leadership roles.

• Regularly engage in coding activities.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or possess equivalent relevant work experience.

• Practical experience in building and deploying LLM applications and agent-oriented workflows to production, including tool integration, retrieval mechanisms, context engineering, and ensuring production reliability.

• Full-stack and cloud engineering experience, particularly with Python or TypeScript, AWS, and Databricks.

• Proven experience managing systems relied upon by other teams.

• Skilled in designing and executing evaluation frameworks for LLM or agent systems.

• Daily, proficient usage of AI agents and coding assistants.

• Successful history of delivering internal or customer-facing AI/ML products with quantifiable business impact.

• Experience in predictive modeling, experimentation, analytics, and foundational data engineering.

• Strong product judgment with the capability to convert ambiguous business challenges into effective solutions.

• Excellent communication skills, particularly with executives and frontline users.

• People-first leadership approach with a proven record of hiring, developing, and retaining technical talent.

• Ideal candidates will have experience in developing AI or decision-making products for GTM functions.

• Familiarity with CRM systems, customer data management, support frameworks, and knowledge-management systems is preferred.

• Experience with agent SDKs, harnesses, LLM observability tools, evaluation tools, and model APIs is advantageous.

• Experience in managing AI products at scale, including cost control, oversight, and governance is desirable.

• Legal authorization to work at Samsara and in the specified work location is required.
