This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Serve as the representative for Live Oak Bank with Congressional offices, committees, federal regulatory agencies (such as SBA, USDA, FDIC), and key policy stakeholders.
• Establish and nurture strong relationships with lawmakers, staffers, regulators, industry groups, and trade associations.
• Advocate for policies that enhance small business lending, government guaranteed programs, the advancement of digital banking, fintech innovation, and equitable, modern regulatory frameworks.
• Spearhead Live Oak’s engagement strategy regarding high-priority federal policy issues, ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise strategy.
• Conduct research, analyze, and monitor legislation and regulatory developments that impact Live Oak and its customers, including SBA/USDA programs, capital requirements, compliance regulations, and emerging technology rules.
• Prepare policy positions, issue briefs, comment letters, testimonies, and executive summaries for both internal and external audiences.
• Monitor, anticipate, and articulate policy changes with clarity and strategic insight.
• Collaborate with leaders across Credit, Lending, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Product, and Risk to foresee regulatory impacts and shape policy responses.
• Interpret federal policy developments and their implications for Live Oak’s products, lending strategies, and risk management.
• Assist executive leadership with federal engagement, including preparation for meetings, talking points, and strategic positioning.
• Represent Live Oak at federal hearings, industry conferences, roundtables, and advocacy coalitions.
• Foster collaborative relationships with peer institutions, trade associations, and advocacy organizations to promote shared objectives.
• Support Corporate Communications in public policy messaging and enhancing Live Oak’s national advocacy profile.
• Over 5 years of experience in federal government relations, advocacy, Capitol Hill roles, or regulatory affairs.
• Comprehensive understanding of the federal legislative process and regulatory rulemaking.
• Proven success in influencing federal policy outcomes either directly or as a registered lobbyist.
• A well-established network within Congress, federal agencies, or national policy organizations.
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
• A Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, law, business, or a related field.
