This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Supervise comprehensive global payroll operations across all entities and in 18 countries.
• Cultivate relationships with payroll managed services partners, including service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), escalations, and quarterly business reviews.
• Formulate and implement a scalable global payroll strategy aimed at standardization, process excellence, and risk mitigation.
• Create and execute a payroll automation roadmap.
• Direct payroll implementations and global geographic expansion, encompassing new country setups, employer of record (EOR) management, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) integration.
• Lead and nurture a globally distributed payroll team.
• Act as the escalation point for complex payroll issues and employee inquiries.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Equity Administration on accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis, equity compensation processing, and financial reporting.
• Partner with Treasury on payroll funding, global cash forecasting, and new country setups.
• Work alongside HR on employee lifecycle processes, statutory benefits, and related employee matters.
• Oversee the administration of intricate compensation elements, including salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, equity payments, leaves, deductions, garnishments, severance, and one-time payments.
• Ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and international laws and regulations.
• Manage withholdings, payroll taxes, statutory deposits, multi-state registrations, audits, and government inquiries.
• Supervise global year-end payroll reporting, tax filings, annual statements, W-2s, and comparable international forms.
• Identify and address payroll risks while maintaining internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, and compliance violations.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in payroll.
• Profound technical expertise in multi-state US and international payroll environments.
• Proven success in leading globally dispersed teams of 5 or more employees.
• Strong operational skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Dedicated to accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Capability to manage multiple complex workstreams concurrently.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent global certification is preferred.
• Proficient in interpreting and researching local and international rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of statutory deductions, tax rates, social security requirements, and benefits regulations across EMEA/APAC/North America.
• Familiarity with UKG and CloudPay.
• Experience with Smartsheets, Google Sheets, and AI-enabled tools.
• Expertise in public company equity payroll complexities, including RSUs and ESPP.
