Director, Full-Stack Engineer, Shopping Tech

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee, manage, and expand several teams of software engineers focused on product development.

• Provide mentorship and support for engineers' professional and technical growth.

• Collaborate with product managers to comprehend application functionalities and testing scenarios.

• Continuously enhance software engineering methodologies.

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain technical solutions using a variety of full-stack tools and technologies.

• Ensure the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.

• Keep abreast of technological advancements, explore and learn new technologies, and engage in technology communities.

• Foster innovation, inclusivity, teamwork, self-organization, diversity, and creative thinking.

• Enhance team velocity across engineering groups.

• Spearhead the deployment of new and existing applications within AWS environments.

• Supervise the transition of monolithic applications to microservices architectures and develop new microservices.

• Define long-term technical strategy and architecture standards for enterprise platforms.

• Collaborate with senior engineering and business leaders to align product roadmaps with scalable technological capabilities.

• Drive talent strategies, succession planning, skill enhancement, and equitable opportunities across engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a relevant quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in people management.

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing, and data architecture.

• Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture.

• Preferred: More than 10 years of professional coding experience in Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.

• Preferred: Over 8 years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Preferred: More than 10 years of professional experience throughout the full system development lifecycle.

• Preferred: At least 5 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience with networking protocols and integration of third-party distributed systems.

• Preferred: At least 5 years of experience mentoring senior engineers and promoting professional development.

• Preferred: At least 2 years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards.

• Expertise in the strategic use of agentic AI coding tools.
