This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of the comprehensive financial model for the company, encompassing integrated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow across pipeline initiatives, milestone schedules, and capital allocation scenarios.
• Act as the embedded finance partner to the R&D leadership, responsible for developing and maintaining budgets and forecasts for clinical studies, reconciling accruals, and creating variance narratives.
• Collaborate with CMC and manufacturing leadership on forecasts, inventory oversight, and tracking cost of goods in preparation for commercial launch.
• Assist in the design and execution of the annual budget and long-range plan, which includes departmental target setting and headcount strategies.
• Generate and present monthly department-level reports comparing forecasts to actuals, along with variance analysis.
• Lead the selection and deployment of Loyal’s FP&A platform.
• Collaborate on quarterly financial packages for the board, updates for investors, diligence requests, and financing activities.
• Work alongside accounting to provide hands-on support during close, audits, and system transitions.
• Contribute to defining the scaling of the FP&A function as the team grows.
• 8–12 years of progressive experience in finance and FP&A, with substantial experience in animal health, biotech, pharma, or another R&D-intensive, milestone-driven industry.
• Proven experience in managing financial planning for clinical studies, including enrollment assumptions, site activation schedules, CRO contract structures, spending curves, and accrual processes.
• Background in financial planning for CMC or manufacturing, covering campaign timelines and the transition of R&D-stage manufacturing costs to inventoriable costs upon launch.
• Advanced financial modeling expertise, including integrated three-statement models, headcount scenarios, and various analyses.
• Required hands-on experience with an FP&A platform.
• Experience in developing or scaling an FP&A function, involving planning calendars, forecasting processes, reporting standards, and budget owner accountability.
• Strong fundamentals in accounting, including revenue recognition, accruals, working capital, and interconnections among the three financial statements.
• Capability to clearly present financial results, variance narratives, and capital strategies to executive and board-level audiences.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel.
• Ability to utilize AI and automation for enhancing financial processes and infrastructure.
• Capacity to work independently in a dynamic, broad-scope, lean-team environment.
• A strong intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in Loyal’s mission.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with first commercial launches and revenue operation structures, Datarails or spreadsheet-to-platform migration, ERP and FP&A system implementations, management or mentoring of FP&A analysts, familiarity with veterinary or animal health regulations and commercial aspects, and CPA, CFA, or FPAC certifications.
