Director – Forward Deployed Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Recruit, guide, and nurture a team of Forward Deployed Engineers.

• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering Services, and Functional teams to pinpoint operational challenges, inefficiencies, and opportunities for digital solutions.

• Assess and prioritize digital solution opportunities based on their business impact, feasibility, and alignment with strategic goals.

• Provide guidance to FDEs in making technical decisions, developing features, resolving issues, conducting code reviews, and executing delivery.

• Establish and enforce engineering standards and coding practices that ensure scalability, maintainability, and security.

• Create reusable delivery assets, playbooks, user documentation, and implementation strategies.

• Set up post-deployment metrics to evaluate the impact and value of solutions.

• Collect feedback for ongoing enhancements.

• Assess and encourage the adoption of AI-assisted development tools.

• Stay updated on digital trends in AI, software development, manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and SaaS solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in leading customer-facing software delivery, implementation, solution engineering, consulting, or technical delivery programs within enterprise SaaS, technology, or systems integrator environments.

• At least 2 years of experience in people leadership or technical leadership, specifically in leading and developing engineers, architects, consultants, or technical delivery teams.

• 3 to 5 years of practical experience in software development, solution engineering, integration development, or full-stack development, including technical leadership roles.

• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, and Agile/SAFe delivery frameworks.

• Proficiency in AI technologies as they relate to the software development lifecycle.

• Competence in using Jira and Confluence.

• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple concurrent projects.

• Experience in manufacturing operations, industrial engineering, or engineering services is highly preferred.

• Willingness and ability to travel 25% to customer sites, restricted to domestic U.S. travel.
