
Director, Finance Systems Strategy – Transformation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Act as the principal leader for transformation across Finance's front-, middle-, and back-office functions.
• Oversee and sustain the multi-year Finance Transformation roadmap that supports AI and automation initiatives.
• Manage intricate cross-functional programs and projects from their inception to hypercare.
• Collaborate with process engineers to pinpoint enhancements, minimize manual tasks and cycle durations, and re-engineer finance operations.
• Convert the challenges and strategic goals of Finance leaders into practical technology solutions.
• Assess build-versus-buy options within Finance domains.
• Establish target operating models, align solution design, and guarantee acceptance among Finance leads.
• Work together on data governance, master data management, and data quality benchmarks.
• Spearhead AI initiatives, including agentic Finance use cases, predictive forecasting, intelligent document processing, anomaly detection, and automated reconciliations.
• Ensure governance, explainability, and control frameworks for AI and automation solutions.
• Design the Finance technology stack for scalability, integration, and resilience.
• Conduct vendor evaluations, RFPs, and assessments for new Finance platforms.
• Manage strategic vendor relationships and realize value from them.
• Collaborate with architecture, integration, and security teams on standards, data protection, and compliance measures.
• Lead communications with stakeholders, executive updates, and steering committee meetings.
• Define and monitor KPIs and benefit realization metrics.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to 1–3 direct reports.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Profound understanding of Finance operations across front-, middle-, and back-office domains.
• Robust knowledge of AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, agentic AI, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) applied within Finance.
• Capability to architect and advance enterprise Finance technology stacks and data architectures.
• Experience in fostering partnerships with Finance, IT, Data, and business process leaders.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technology and data concepts for executive audiences.
• Strategic mindset with systems-thinking and architectural skills.
• Strong program leadership experience with measurable outcomes in large, complex initiatives.
• Focus on governance, data quality, controls, and auditability.
• Comfort operating within a global, matrixed organization.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort in managing ambiguity.
• Over 10 years of experience in finance transformation, finance systems, or enterprise technology leadership roles.
• Proven track record in advancing finance technology stacks and data architectures for AI and automation.
• Practical experience with core finance platforms like NetSuite, Certinia, or Concur.
• Experience in leading process re-engineering efforts with process engineers and Finance operations.
• Understanding of data governance, master data management, data warehouses, lakehouses, and integration patterns.
• Experience in evaluating, selecting, and implementing AI-enabled and agentic Finance solutions.
• Proficient in developing business requirements and delivering technology solutions across various Finance domains.
• Strong project management, communication, and executive presentation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and act as a design authority.
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
