This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Develop investment proposals for strategic initiatives, new market segments, market entry, go-to-market (GTM) investments, and product investments.
• Lead reviews after investments to compare anticipated vs. actual returns.
• Manage frameworks for distributing budgets and staffing across GTM, Research & Development (R&D), and General & Administrative (G&A) functions.
• Create mechanisms and decision-making criteria to reallocate resources as priorities evolve.
• Oversee annual planning, quarterly forecasting, and continuous outlook processes.
• Define forecast inputs, assign ownership, set timelines, and establish accountability for maintaining forecast accuracy.
• Simplify unit economics for non-financial leaders, including metrics such as gross margin, model/inference costs, cost-to-serve, customer acquisition cost (CAC) payback, customer profitability, and net revenue retention (NRR) / gross revenue retention (GRR).
• Collaborate with GTM and Product teams on pricing and packaging strategies, including usage-based elements.
• Model alternatives, stress-test potential negative scenarios, and set economic boundaries.
• Influence the finance systems roadmap across customer relationship management (CRM), billing, enterprise resource planning (ERP), expense management, and reporting.
• Prioritize system needs, outline requirements, and drive implementation with Revenue Operations (RevOps), Data teams, and external partners.
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy in reporting.
• Collaborate with the VP of Finance and executive team on materials for the board and investors.
• Convert company performance, forecast changes, and strategic decisions into a coherent financial narrative.
• Build the capabilities, processes, and operational rhythm for a high-performing strategic finance function.
• Foster team development and establish accountability across planning, forecasting, analytics, and business partnerships.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), strategic finance, or business finance within the software sector.
• Experience in a growth-stage company where processes were not yet established.
• Proven experience in managing planning, forecasting, and business partnerships in a rapidly growing B2B software environment.
• Familiarity with usage-based, consumption-based, or hybrid pricing models, or experience facilitating the transition to such models.
• Proven track record of leading significant changes in finance systems or processes.
• Ability to transform operational data into an executive-level narrative.
• Experience presenting to senior leadership or boards and defending financial data under pressure.
• Strong understanding of SaaS and consumption metrics, including Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), NRR, gross margin with variable Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), magic number, payback, and burn efficiency.
• Excellent financial modeling capabilities.
• Knowledge of CRM, billing, ERP, and reporting systems.
• Ability to oversee a systems project without requiring coding skills.
• Competence in providing and justifying recommendations to GTM leadership.
• Demonstrated high ownership and a humble approach regarding scope.
• Exposure to the legal tech sector or legal industry is a plus.
• Experience with enterprise procurement and security-intensive sales cycles is advantageous.
• Familiarity with audit readiness or pre-IPO processes is beneficial.
• Knowledge of AI infrastructure cost management is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada or the United States at the time of application.
