Director, Engineering – Marketplace & Dev Ecosystem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the engineering strategy for HighLevel’s Marketplace and Developer Ecosystem.

• Supervise various teams responsible for Public APIs, monetization infrastructure, and the App Marketplace.

• Create an outstanding developer experience and guarantee API scalability.

• Enhance revenue through effective monetization channels.

• Provide mentorship to Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and Tech Leads.

• Conduct performance assessments and establish clear career progression paths for engineers.

• Assemble resilient teams adept at handling high-traffic public APIs and intricate financial transactions.

• Convert business requirements into scalable technical roadmaps.

• Optimize processes for managing numerous integrations and thousands of developer applications.

• Ensure agile delivery while upholding security and governance standards.

• Manage Public API architecture, ensuring backward compatibility, versioning, and high availability.

• Collaborate with Product Managers on payout automation and usage-based billing systems.

• Uphold engineering quality across SDKs, Sandbox environments, and Native Integrations.

• Formulate strategy for the App Marketplace and Partner Program alongside cross-functional teams.

• Design extensible architectures that integrate with Google, Meta, Slack, and custom solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Node.js and Vue.js (or React/Angular).

• Significant experience in a high-growth SaaS company is highly advantageous.

• Demonstrated success in building or overseeing Public APIs, Developer Platforms, or App Marketplaces.

• 12+ years of engineering experience.

• At least 5+ years in leadership or management roles overseeing other managers or multiple teams.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Strong aptitude for architectural decision-making concerning API versioning, backward compatibility, and system security.
